Lights Out!

The Spence School in New York shut off their lights in solidarity with The Bishop Abiero Girls’ Secondary School in Kenya, which struggled with limited electricity and water. Spence students raised awareness about the challenges facing girls’ schools in developing countries and raised funds to support a World Connect project that constructed a wind turbine at the school. Feeding and Reading

Concord Academy in Massachusetts sold food and sweet treats to raise funds for World Connect’s “Enhancing Rural Education” project in Buen Hombre, Dominican Republic, where literacy rates are low and school dropout rates are high. “My most impactful work” said Peace Corps Volunteer Alexis, who worked with local leaders to implement the project. Great Coin Race

Each year the student body at The Sage School in Massachusetts out do their fundraising record from the year before. This year students raised $1,228.58 in their greatest coin race ever! They raised funds to support World Connect’s Broadening Horizons project in El Salvador that opened up new educational possibilities for local youth in Los Limones and Amapala. Read more...
